I have talked to at least two additional people who I expect to register, possibly more. I will encourage them to do that soon so we have an accurate count.

Some details regarding camping:
Directions to my place are fairly simple. I presume most of you are familiar with West Va roads. You will encounter some sharp turns and single lane pavement. Sawmill Hollow Road is dirt and gravel but otherwise not bad. Below are directions from Alderson, from the Dawson exit of I-64, Exit 150, and from the Alta exit of I-64, Exit 161. We will be camped 15 miles from the clinic's ground zero, 12 miles from Alderson, 7 miles from the Dawson exit, and 13 from the Alta exit. All roads are found on Mapquest and the WV Gazetteer.
Address: 346 Sawmill Hollow Road, Alderson, 24910 Phone: 304-645-6672 leave a message and I will return your call.
FROM ALDERSON
Follow Rte 12 north past BP station and Family Dollar store. Make left on Blue Sulphur Springs Rd (CR 25). Stay on BSS Rd for 11 miles. Past the blue sulphur spring make a left (stay straight) on Bennett Mountain Road (CR-25/3). Make an immediate left onto Sawmill Hollow Road. Folks with a camper may want to call so I can give you some options for the next step. About a half mile later make a right at the fork marked with the 346 sign.
FROM THE DAWSON EXIT 150 (steep descents)
Exit as though you are going to the Exxon, but continue past the Exxon and small motel a short distance to another stop sign. Make a right onto Dawson Rd, CR-29. After a mile or less, make a right onto Grassy Meadow Road, CR-27. After a mile or two, go straight onto Bennett Mountain Road, CR-25/3. Go over the mountain. Near the bottom, several miles later, you will see Sawmill Hollow Rd on the right, and Blue Sulphur Springs Rd just ahead. It is easiest to go down to the main road, turn around and then enter Sawmill. It is at an angle. Half mile up Sawmill, make a right at the 346 sign.
FROM THE ALTA EXIT 161 (preferred)
Take the Alta, Rte 12 South exit, which is Exit 161. At the stop, turn onto Rte 12 south to Alderson/Pence Springs. Stay on Rte 12 for about 3.5 miles, to a small community called Asbury. About a quarter mile past Asbury, make a right on Spring Valley Rd, CR-31. After 3 and a half miles or so you come to a point where the road ahead is actually Spotted Ridge Rd. Go to the left and cross the little bridge to stay on Spring Valley. Next you come to a spot where the paved road continues left and straight ahead is a dirt road. Go straight on the dirt to stay on SV Rd. To the left is the Jarrett Cutoff, not wanted. Less than a mile the dirt ends at a stop sign. Go straight onto Blue Sulphur Springs Rd, CR-25. Less than a mile at a sharp right turn, go straight onto Bennett Mtn Rd, CR-25/3. Immediately hang a left onto Sawmill Hollow Rd. Half a mile, stay right at the 346 sign.
More info to come. Feel free to hit me with questions.

I plan on registering this weekend. I am just getting my bases covered before I do. I don't have an actual whitewater kayak but do have one that I took down top gauley and have a spray skirt for it. It's a field and stream charge. So you think that will be ok? I can post a picture of what I have currently.

We will be happy to loan you a ww boat- in general rec boats are a lot harder to wrestle when they are full of water- harder to secure flotation to displace water, You also have better structural strength in a ww boat (ends less likely to collapse in a pin situation) and you will have better back support in a ww boat. this leads to better posture which leads to better paddling. It will be harder to get a ww boat to track straight so that will be an adjustment. WW boats are made to turn. When you register fill out that you need a boat along with your weight and height. We'll get you fixed up. If you think you really won't like a ww boat, you could bring your own boat as a back up. You could switch it out on day two.

Thanks. I will probably bring mine just in case. But would to try a ww out to know what to look for. Eventually I want to get one. I just haven't yet as the opportunities to get in haven't come as easy now that I have kids.

I just registered but somehow did not get the page to pay via PayPal. I tried to go back through again and it tells me I'm already registered. I can just pay in cash when I get there if that's okay? Or if there's a way you can send me the payment link separately I'll pay that way.

Chuck and Cliff -- Rose Willard should be one of the clinic participants. Chucks's list says there is a "Jude Rose" signed up. Can you see if this is a typo? Thank you.

Hey guys I’ll be coming up Sunday to join the group. I’d like to meet at breakfast if you’re still planning to be at the big wheel around 830. Can anyone give me directions as to which exit off I-64 and where to go from there? Thanks in advance.

I saw that a half bath would be made available at camp I was wondering if there was anywhere to shower?

First Bryan, if you intend to go directly to the Big Wheel and not camp, take Exit 161, Rt 12, to Alta/Alderson/Pence Springs south to Alderson (10-12 miles). Go straight thru the only stop sign. Another half mile look for the Big Wheel on the right. From I-64, about 30 - 40 minutes.
Nathan, showers will go to the high bidder (just kidding). Due to water limitations, showers are possible but limited.

I just moved from Kentucky to my apartment in Beckley today; if it's not to late to sign up and there is a spot available, I'd love to join you all this weekend. I have all requisite gear and zero experience. 🙃

Is there an estimated time for the Friday evening scouting trip? I was planning on helping out, but was curious about what time should one get there on Friday? Thanks

my plan is to roll into Cliff's around 2:30 Fri. , drop off some extra boats and gear at Cliffs, leave a vehicle at stewarts (3:15)to take drivers back up at end of trip and eat at stewarts when done, then back to Cliff's to crash, all times are approximate
