It's that time of year again. WVWA will once again host the National Youth Science Campers for two days of excitement on the Upper New July 13-14. We would like to have at least 30 volunteers to lead the campers down the Upper New Glade Creek to Grandview Sandbar section. We also need to round up 30+ boats and gear for the campers to use. Those who have done this before know the drill and what a rewarding experience this is. Volunteers should be comfortable paddling Class II-III water and be able to rescue swimmers without becoming a statistic yourself. We can always use help with shore activities and spare gear logistics if not assisting on the water. A signup link will be posted soon to volunteer or lend boats and gear. Looking forward to another great Science Camper weekend!

Is there any information about the arrangements for camping?

Yes, I have arranged for camping at Burnwood again this year. The only difference is that we do not have the usual campsite on Saturday throughout the day. We will be at the campsite at the end of the campground. I'm told it was recently updated.

All signed up but couldn't get the waiver form to load up. Chuck could you post that link? Also please read the note I put in about my trailer not being available this year. If no one has a box trailer I'd be glad to at least help rent a U-Haul.
Also, are we camping at the same place as we did last year????

I corrected the link for the WVWA waiver. The ACA waivers (adult and minor) were OK. You can get the WVWA waiver for at: www.wvwa.net/nysc-WVWA-Waiver.pdfAccording to Harry, camping is at Burnwood again this year. The only difference is that we do not have the usual campsite on Saturday throughout the day. We will be at the campsite at the end of the campground.

Thanks Chuck. So, does that mean were camping at the end of the right fork in stead of the left fork we did last year? I don't want to drop the firewood at the wrong spot...

Thanks Chuck. So, does that mean were camping at the end of the right fork in stead of the left fork we did last year? I don't want to drop the firewood at the wrong spot... I have no idea since I wasn't there last year and I won't be there this year. Harry's post said "we do not have the usual campsite on Saturday throughout the day." Harry will have to clarify what time on Saturday we can leave stuff at the campsite that we do have. Or, someone else can contact the NPS to determine when we can drop stuff off there.

I was able to verify with Harry. We have the gazebo on the right. And we can setup camp on Friday. Once again my trailer will not be available to haul and secure boats and gear as we have done in the past. If anyone has a box trailer for this it would be great! I talked to Dave about this earlier and he suggested possibly renting a U-Haul for the event, but I check the local availability for a trailer that weekend which is pretty much slim to none.

I just became the proud owner of a Seaeagle 380x double duck that can be used for science camp. However, I would prefer to paddle my hard boat for trips.

DFK- I will give up my second hard boat and gear with Linda and I moving to our Sea Eagle if you need more hard boats. I could also put 2 campers in the IK, paddle my hard boat and put Linda in the raft with Scott. I'll bring the IK and gear and let harry figure it out.

Wes, we have the boats and gear covered. Need you in a kayak. Sadly to say, we could best use Linda on shore with the unused boats and gear. David, glad if you can help. Please fill out the sign up form at the link at top of the forum.

David, I apologize that the form did not work for you. We could always use an extra raft on the river.
Stehman family, good to see you sign up. Yes, I will have waivers.
