We are planning Seneca as usual ,but if weather or water levels are bad,we may move the fun to the next weekend. Easter weekend for now and I plan to go up Thursday evening and set up camp.,next to Seneca Creek as always. Hope to get us a Smoke Hole trip this year,as many people have not done it. That will be on a Saturday I feel sure. Hope to see everyone there. I will post the Wednesday before if we are a go or set it for the following weekend.

Already committed...Arriving the evening of 3-29 (Thursday) .. Wife, daughter and niece are tagging along for non boating activities..
If boating doesn't work out I will hike and explore with them... good weekend either way
It wont take much to talk me into a consecutive weekend on April 7 either... These Potomac trips are rare, very scenic and a lot of fun
Thx for organizing this Jim... fingers crossed on levels and weather

Hey Tim, we are planning on paddling Friday afternoon. I don’t think I’m going to make it up there until Friday morning. I was thinking part of the Cruiser course and Hopewell canyon. Annette and I are planning on paddling both weekends up there,so I’lm going to see if Yoakum’s will let me leave my camper over in a corner until the second weekend. I do have a room reserved with two beds as backup if we wouldn’t have been able to camp this weekend. So if somebody from the club needs a room let me know. I can cancel up to Thursday night. Looks like good temps. !!! Everybody that can bring a few pieces of firewood. Thanks, two great weekends ahead.

Unless something changes, I'll aim to arrive mid-morning Friday to find a spot and set-up. I doubt I can run Sunday, unless it's something close-by and short. I'll bring as much wood as I can.

Tim,sounds good. David,Tim,Joe and everyone let’s meet about 11:30-12:00 in the campground to decide what we want to run and set shuttle. David if you ‘re planning both weekends you should check about leaving your trailer like I hope to do. It would only be there for four days before we would be back. Seems crazy to pull it home and back up. Hope you guys can make both weekends. Looks like Wes,Bob and Jim M. will be up second weekend.

Are reservations recommended at Yoakums this time of year? We would be a last minute decision. Jacy and I are itching to get on water.

Jerry unless you need rv hook up with water and electric, you should be fine. Lots of empty spaces I'm taking camper van and generally just go the no electric route, last year I tented- lots of room. I also took advantage of the eatery in Yoakums to save on cooking some meals- reasonable down home prices but not exactly vegan.

Guys, Not sure if I will make it up for any of this fun due to work conflicts, but the sour dough pizza from the Front Porch Restaurant is one of our favorites. Top 3 pies in the state I'd say. You have to factor in abmiance and how hungry I usually am by the time I make it in there. In the summer the veggies are fresh from their garden out back. Top notch spot. Have fun, I hope to make it up for a day trip possibly.

Last time I passed through there, I noticed that the cabin that had the restrooms in it had burned down. Does anybody know if they have replaced the facilities?

Don, I don't know how much paddling I'm going to do, but I definately planning on logging some miles walking to the bathroom/bathhouse and back to the campsite. I think round trip last year, if you looped the walk , it was 4/10 of a mile. If you go three times a day you get in 1.2 miles just going to the bathroom. Of course you could camp closer to the bathrooms but then you're further away from the bells and jim and the rv sites. Personally I need the exercise, one of the big incentives of eating breakfast in Yoakam's is that you can use the bathroom there as well. It works out to be about the same distance as the other- but it's a two for one- you get bowel relief and a meal, might need that combo if you order the ramp burger. Just thought that might sway you into coming, knowin' there's a bathroom and ramp burgers and they're conveniently located together.

Is it a safe bet that there's a gauge issue on S Br Potomac between section 5 and 6?

Post by Jim Bobbitt on Mar 28, 2018 20:01:54 GMT -5
Tim,according to some of the streamkeepers for that section, the gauge has been reading 2-3 ft. High at Petersburg for sometime. No explanation for it.

Don,good deal, looking forward to seeing you guys. I think I Prayed too much for water. Lord, please cut off the facet now. We may have to go do one of the Cheat Forks. I’ve done the Smoke Hole pretty high and I think we’ll be fine. I think the highest I’ve been on the North Fork is 6.5-6.8 and it was ok,but not as much fun as having a few rocks to navigate. I hope things come down some. Hey Joe there’s not going to be any scraping this year!
