I like how we are updating the roster for the event. I have just finished a photo reel and mash up video edit. So far I have about 20 30 min of photo and video. I am getting with a couple people next week to get more video. Lookin good yinz

On the wed. shuttle I talked to Phil Townsend and Larry Belcher about the event. Larry told me he used to be president so I'm hoping these guys make an appearance just like elvis!.
I've invited Rob Dobson, who was kind enough to do the "skill nights" for the club this Spring. We talked about scheduling another night soon. Another great resource person has been Bernie Farley (ww warehouse, upper meadow guy, boat broker) and he personally "dragged me" back into paddling so I think an invite to him would be nice..
When I worked for the Boy Scouts in Maine, we put on an annual "Moosefeed" to thank the locals who helped support the program so if you know of others who have been there for the club or its members let's discuss inviting them as well..

Can I attend? Especially for the gear swap, raffle and maybe even the float trip? I haven't joined the group other than the forums, but I could if I have to.

Alex good to hear., Your progression in the ww sport amazes me.
. Sean we would love to have you. We're going to feed you Sat. night ,also provide free camping for the weekend (ace gear shop) live music and will happily loan gear/boats and provide support on a stretch of water for your appropriate skill level, Do you think its' too much to ask that you actually join (for $20.00) the club? On second thought we can let you come if you've provided a valuable service to the club. How about a large cooler full of iice cold PBR? That should qualify as "special honorary status" Even though its just PBR, who might find the $20.00 membership a bargain! A large bag of ice runs about $5.00 for starters Sometimes you gotta pay to play. If you end up getting hooked and buy a boat through ace your wvwa membership discount will save you some cash.

very good Jim, glad you're coming with or without watermelon. Join the cast of characters: weeny boaters, cboaters, clowns, elvis, and of course you know that smurfs from the enchanted waters of webster county are always welcome when there is a gaggle or boaters..

gladly joining the ever growing group you've listed above, but I won't be bringing any "fire jumpers". and bringing a watermelon will be no problem. almost recovered with a new knee ---- plans are me, my new knee and my new raft for the Weenie (Weiney) Fest on the water, finally. Let me know if I can bring ANYTHING else.

I won't even need to camp, since I just live in Beckley it's not a problem to drive over.

Sean duly noted and added to the list. I live in Oak Hill but after the PBRs I might just be stumbling into my parked camper van. This is a family oriented event but when you start out stupid like me it only takes a brew or two to finish me off!

okay so here's my paddling plans for the anniversary weekend bash. Fri- I'm working- so I'll just hang out at the campground in the evening but the go getters can do the gorge or do laps at fayette station. Sat I'm doing a total intro to paddling for all ability levels- Leaving the Campground at 10:00, headed to the overlook at Hawksnest, tour at the mystery hole, Paddle around base of Kanawha Falls, picinic lunch on the island. Anybody that wants to huck can provide entertainment then head Back to Campground by 3:00 on Sat. afternoon to set up for dinner, music etc. Sun. I'm either doing the gorge or glade to sandbar. depending on folks desires. All subject to change depending on water levels.

Sounds good Tony! Depending on who arrives early Friday, I'll lead a gc-gvsb trip early for all skill levels followed by some fayette station laps for those who are wanting to step it up a bit. Would like to do the gorge on Sunday.
If you are interested in doing a beginner run on Friday, and need gear, post here and we can most likely get you all the gear you need to experience some mild whitewater.

Dave and I plan on paddling Friday too. Depending on river levels Friday, we are available to run GC to GVSB or Thurman to Cunard or what-have-you. Saturday we committed to leading a trip from GC to GVSB.
Friday night (after viewing some of the films) we plan on going to Munchies in Beckley to hear the "Unknown Hinson" if anyone cares to join us.

I would like to do the beginner Friday if you don't mind lending me everything but a PFD. Give me a taste and make sure this is for me! Also, Tony, I would like to join you for the Saturday one as well again, if I can borrow everything but a PFD.

Saturday no problem, I can fix you up with everything you need. You will have options on Saturday in all likelihood Friday I'm hanging out at camp in the evening but a decent chance somebody else (like Dustin) will do an upper new trip in the afternoon and you could connect with them (Dustin, David and Ruth) and in all likely hood they could supply gear and someone in the group could supply a boat as well. Smart to try before you buy. See if its for you before making the investment.. Be sure to watch upcoming trips on the message board to get a feel for what folks are doing. You primarily want to look for "upper new" trips like gc (glade creek) to gvsb (grandview sandbar) or McCreery to Stonecliff, or Thurmond to Cunard. "Gorge" Trips are. class III and IV so they are a definite step up.

If there's any mountain bikers out there, good, averaging, or newbs, that want to ride arrowhead saturday we could make it happen. Also there's two bike shops in Fayetteville that both rent bikes.

Kayak trips will be our priority this weekend... eating, sleeping, and PBR will run a close second.
