Clinic Dates: May 9-10, 2015 Registration Deadline: May 1st Lead Instructor: Charlie Redington Location: Cherry River (tentative) Clinic Fee: $30 per student Class Size: Maximum of 6 WVWA members (minimum of 4) Class Status: 4 of 6 spots filled
Charlie Redington will teach the clinic with co-instructors Josh Jordan & David King. Thanks for committing to the dates guys. Hoping Harry Netzer & Brent Samples can make it as well.
This clinic is for the kayaker who is already comfortable on class 2 whitewater, as well as making eddy turns & peel outs. We will work on improving our paddling skills – paddle strokes, eddy turns, peel-outs, ferries, bow & side surfing, & much more. We will also concentrate on river reading & using water features to your advantage.
It is important that you have been paddling at least two or more times in 2015 before the clinic start date. This clinic is tiring for those who are out of practice. Please don't sign up for the clinic if you cannot attend both days.
If water is not available on the Cherry, we will move to a different location. Where we paddle on Sunday will be decided after the class on Saturday & will depend on water availability & student skills. |
You must be a WVWA member to participate in the clinic. If you are not already a current member, Click Here to join/renew.Contact Charlie Redington at 304-539-0497 (cell) or send him an email / forum PM if you have any questions about the clinic.Lets go boating! Contact Lauren Beyer if you have any problems registering for the clinic.

This clinic is now on the Club Calendar. Like the Beginner/Novice Clinic, we are creating an online registration system for this clinic as well – so as soon as we finish creating it, I will post a link to it here. Just an FYI – posting here does not ensure your place in the clinic – it will be on a first-come, first-serve basis with the online registration process.

Hey everyone — I want to give you a heads up that the Intermediate Clinic online registration will go live this evening at 6:00pm EST. Since there are only 6 spots available for this clinic & registration may go quickly with the new online registration system, I wanted to give everyone advance notice of the launch time. The link to the online registration will be available in the first post of this thread at 6:00pm EST.! You must be a WVWA member to participate in the clinic. If you are not already a current member, Click Here to join/renew.

The Brand New online Clinic Registration process is now available!!! Please see the link in the 1st post in this thread to register!!! Chuck Brabec & I worked hard to create an awesome online registration process! This will streamline clinic registration — it makes it faster, easier, & just plain awesome-er!! Also, the lead clinic instructors will now have an easily accessible online list of all the registered students & be able to click on each student to view the registration form they submitted - so cool! No more mailing in registration forms that take a while to get there & can be hard to read, hard to track, & hard to organize. We are SO excited about this. Enjoy!

You will love this clinic Brian, as well as the Cherry River. Good to meet and paddle the Elk with you. Get your camping gear ready.

Looks like closest camping to the Cherry for the clinic is Cranberry camp ground about 14 or so miles away. I had met a fellai who owns land just above Holcomb but am having trouble getting in touch with him. Graigsville has the Ranch House and a fun burger pizza place in Richwood for food.

Could the person in charge of this clinic pm me? I'm not 100% sure I can make it due to unforeseen circumstances.

So Sunday May 10 is mother's day. ... that's not necessarily a conflict for me (because my mother lives in Iowa, not because I'm a jerk ) but I was trying to recruit a friend/new member to come with me and she was wondering if it was possible to just come for the instruction on Saturday? I will probably sign up either way. Thanks!

Yesterday was the deadline to sign up for this clinic - do we have any takers for the last 2 spots??

Any takers will not be able to register unless we make some changes to the registration program. Right now it won't let you get to the registration form.

Kelly Jo Drey - it's a minimum of 4 to have the clinic, we have 4 signed up, so unless Charlie says differently, the clinic is still a go. But, we need to know now if anyone else wants to take the clinic so Charlie has enough time to prepare for the # of people he'll have. Reply here if you're interested because right now we have the form set to not accept more registrations after the deadline.

Clinic Canceled!!! due to lack of H2o in the area most desirable for clinic. We also had one of four drop due to unforeseen reason. I want to say thank you to all who signed up for clinic. I also want to thank my buddies who offered there support and time to help me. David King, Josh Jordan, Harry Netzer. Thanks Guys! Lauren Beyer and Chuck Brabec for all your efforts to make this easy and keeping me on course. It takes constant monitoring...thank you two as well. I will be sending PM out to those that signed up.
