Roll Sessions will begin on Jan. 4th at the South Charleston Rec Center from 8:00-9:30 pm. They are currently scheduled for each each Sunday evening (from 8:00-9:30) in Jan., Feb. and March. The dates for the April roll sessions will be decided at the Jan. meeting. Typically, we have not had sessions on Easter or during Webster Weekend. (The dates include Jan. 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, Feb. 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, March 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th.)
The cost to members is $5.00 per session ($10.00 nonmembers) and please bring exact change. Boats must be clean. No acorns, mud or other river gunk allowed!
We will need a "host" for each session. The host collects money and helps hold the door while people bring in their kayaks. As a host you can still roll in the pool. Tom and Bridget are hosting the first roll session on Jan. 4th. If you can help out by hosting a session please post under this thread.

I want a self bailing canoe- with holes in the bottom. Oh I forgot "real" paddlers don't need a pump or a self bailer to paddle a canoe, they use their machismo to keep the water out. Its all good until you switch over to the dark side. The video was really "Hokie".

Marshall, I'll add you to the list - but if it changes - please let us know. That goes for anyone volunteering to be a Roll Session Host, if you end up not being able to do it, please let us know so we can find someone to replace you. Thanks to all who help out with this!

Thanks, appreciate you guys signing up to host..Roll sessions are a good way to introduce newbies to the sport. Don't be shy about inviting a friend. Financially, roll sessions are not self sustaining. We supplement the cost from the general membership dues. So if we get more participation we end up covering more of our pool cost. If you want a near empty pool show up on "super bowl" Sunday. Its pretty slack then.

Also - note to those wishing to join the club at a pool session & to pool session host volunteers (you can relay this info to those joining at the pool):
Paying for your new membership at the pool is totally fine - but the easiest/fastest way to get your info onto the Roster & get your online access is to fill out the Online Application via the Membership » Join/Renew link in the menu above. Just select the option to "pay by check via mail" even though you're bringing your money to the pool. You can fill out the Online Application before or after turning in your money at the pool, because it just puts your account in "pending" status until your money is received & I update you to "active". If you would still prefer the harder/longer route - I will get a link to a printable membership application on the website this week.
