I'm looking forward to a combined "beginner/intermediate" clinic. Come out and join the fun, either as a participant or volunteer. I hope to have club trips on Fri the 24th and Memorial Day, the 27th.

What kayak would you recommend for this class? I've only been on flat water and own a axis dagger 12' kayak. Thanks

hey Kevin, several members have dagger mambas. If you like we can bring one for you to try out. Right now the mamba seems to be the most popular river runner. The liquid logic remix also has sold well. Here is a link to a nice article about ww kayaks: community.nrs.com/duct-tape/2014/05/23/choose-whitewater-kayak/In general think regular river runners first , then creekers. You'll get a sharper learning curve (more upside down time) with boats designed for play or slalom.

Since Tony brought up Mamba's, if anyone happens to have a small Mamba Maria could borrow for the clinic, that would be appreciated (or similiar stable river runner/creeker). She is 5'2", 115lbs and considering white water (she has rec boat experience on moving water). She has a longer torso and shorter legs. It would be nice to get her in something that actually fits and is forgiving and stable so she could get a true experience on white water.

Thanks, Tony! I appreciate the offer. I'll definitely be looking to firm things up as the Clinic get closer. I just want her to have to opportunity to enjoy the sport and give it a fair try, and that means having a boat that fits so she can feel what it should feel like to peel out, ferry, eddy out, etc...

yeah the y is a snug boat, deep thigh hooks, smaller cockpit than some of todays more modern boats, my diesel feels much roomier than the y even though the y was designed as a creeker

We changed the maximum to 23 students. There are 19 registered already so we have room for 4 more before we start a waiting list.

Just throwing this out there for ppl that don’t already know where Summit Lake campground is. Google maps shows the correct location on 39/5, but the maps program on my PC shows it on FR 44 around Camden on Gauley. Not right.
