The shuttle bus and trailer has been reserved from ACE for the Bridge Day trip. We have 30 spots available. Let's fill 'em up! The price is $16.00 per person. We will limit this to members of the club until the week prior to the trip (Monday 10/15). If the shuttle is not full at that point, it will be opened up to non-members to help recoup the costs of the shuttle. Signing up and paying gets you a seat on the bus from the Teays Landing takeout back to Cunard. It does not guarantee you a spot on raft or other craft. Please try to coordinate the rafts spaces by letting folks know how many people you can accommodate. I'll do my best to keep track of that. To sign up and pay please visit the following link: www.wvwa.net/cgi-bin/bridgeday.pl After completing the registration form, your information will be saved in a file and you will be taken to the page to pay via Paypal. When a registration is submitted, you will receive an email with the info for the registration. The registration will be in pending status until confirmation of payment has been received by Paypal. The pick up time at Teays landing will be 3:30. We won't be sitting in traffic while they prepare to reopen the bridge (commercial rafting vehicles are allowed to use the bridge during the event) . Meeting time will be at Cunard at 10:00 and hope to be on the water between promptly to maximize the time we spend above Fayette Station watching the jumpers. First timers and some-timers welcome, but I can make no guarantee on water levels.

I will be coming down and staying in Beckley area Friday night (Oct 19) .. bringing 3-4 family members who will be hanging out under the bridge watching jumpers Saturday.. Look them up if you are down there.
I plan to kayak if levels look doable. If not I will join them under the bridge.
I will wait until closer to the 15th to reserve my shuttle spot.. you did a good job explaining and organizing this.. ( and good luck tracking the raft seats )

Thanks Woody, but those thanks should go to Chuck Brabec for the good descriptions and behind the scenes programming to get it set up.

I tried to sign up. It would not take my name and email. It said "Your name and email address do not match what's in the membership roster h2oonthbrain@gmail.com, dcackerman@yahoo.com, tom willis, douglas ackerman"

Doug, I don't see Tom on the membership list. As of now, only WVWA members can sign up though this Sunday. So far the interest has been extremely disappointing. Only 3 people have signed up. If we don't get more soon, I'd suggest opening it up to anyone sooner.
Realize if you want to go later (or earlier) go right ahead. As long as you are at Teays before 3:30.

So far, no one with a raft has signed up. So, here's the deal. I want to volunteer my raft, and sign on for the trip, obviously. But, I haven't yet gotten the seal of approval from the Kim Williams School of Raft Guiding Excellence, so would need someone to commit to guide it. Personally, I think I could fumble my way through it, as long as everyone understood there would be some shitty swims, but I'm not breaking my girlfriend's rules, so, if someone who actually is qualified will commit to guide, then we're in business. Alternatively, if someone wants to spend a few days over the next couple weeks turkey boating the gorge with me so I CAN graduate from the upper New to the Lower, then maybe I can convince Kim that I can wear my big boy pants and we can solve 2 problems at one time.

I just made a change that should allow members and non-members to sign up for the shuttle. As an aside, Tom Willis recently submitted an application to join the club and indicated that he would be paying by check. His membership status will remain as pending until I receive the check.
If anyone has any questions, send me a PM.

7 Paid, 1 Pending. 22 seats left. I'm going to be advertising around Fayetteville this weekend since we are almost a week out with an empty bus, so get signed up! Levels and weather should make this interesting.

9 paid, 0 pending as of this evening. One of those who paid is David Partridge. He is looking for a seat on a raft. All of the others are paddling kayaks.

Any educated guess on the water level for Bridge Day?

Since the majority of the water is coming from down south, I'd suspect they will hold back at Bluestone Dam and the river will drop significantly. I'd guess base flow if they cut off the dam will still be somewhere in the 2 to 4 ft range.

12 Folks paid. David, still no rafts and I have not heard a peep from anyone looking to raft. There's still time to get signed up! Looks like the level may be around 5ft ish (with a + or - 3ft margin of error). Weather will be cool with rain on and off most of the day. It likely won't take long to reach Fayette Station given the levels. Bus is scheduled to pick us up at Teay's Landing at 3:30pm for those that don't want an early start to spend several hours standing in the rain. I'm still planning on meeting at Cunard around 10am unless there is a group decision to go later. I'm packing hot chocolate and snacks, and thinking about a tarp for some makeshift shelter.

Doesnt look like anyone is after rafting, i was planning on coming out for bridge day anyways to try and get some kayaking in.... then i managed to drop a 35 pound plate on my foot while weightlifting and broke my big toe in two places. Have to wear a special totally flat rigid shoe. can walk and swim but was not accomodating when i tried to get in my boat yesterday. Real bummer because i already have the time off work. If anyone wants my seat on bus they can have it.

Good Karma going Lacie's way... donating my seat to her if she wants it. She was awesome help on my LG trip.
I think 5ft plus or minus 3ft will be a bit much for this guy..
I will be under the bridge on river left hanging out with my gang. I am overdue for some of that anyway
