On Sunday there will be a club trip on the Greenbrier River from Ft. Spring to Alderson. Clinic participants are encouraged to paddle on Sunday to work on their newly learned skills. Participants will need to call the Greenbrier River Campground (304-445-2203) to make a reservation for a campsite. Tony already reserved 4 RV and 4 tent sites so say "I am with the WV whitewater group". Tony paid a deposit on the sites, but it gets paid back to him as people call and reserve sites and he wants to make sure the reserved sites are full before adding others. good for you Ed, you've put a lot of time in already at the pool and on the upper New. I think we can still find some areas that will challenge you- stern rudder and draw strokes, emphasizing good core rotation (facing the work) and more aggressive eddy turns and peel outs. What are some specific skills you want to work on? We can make that happen as well.

All those that you just mentioned tony are things I need to work on. And I’m looking forward to learning more about reading and useing river features to make my paddling more effective.

Hey folks I am looking to get back in paddling shape around the beginners clinic. I assume a scout paddle will take place Friday. I am looking for a pre scout run or two on Thursday as well. Any takers? My place is available if campsites are hard to come by.
Feeling great and ready to go.

A couple really good friends of mine heading down for this.. Mary Spikowski, Rick Birkner and Hannah . Excited for them to meet you good folks down there.
They have been awesome getting me onto the Low Yough
Feeling a little guilty not helping on this one.. can I just show up to help if I go down that way ? Still maybe squeeze in some Upper New afterward.

Hey guys I just figured out I was free on Saturday so if there is still room I'd love to come up and get in on this clinic and try and get my hard boat back under me again. Please let me know I can bring money with me or send it either way. I will only be able to make it up for Saturday so would be driving up that morning and back home after we get off the river.

Friday paddle on the Greenbrier a must. Two runs would be even better. I will show up at the river campground between noon and one, ready to go. 304-645-6672 in case of different timing. Early is good.
Wiil we have a Woody siting? One can only hope . . .

Hey John, some folks will be making a run on Sat. they might put in at the campground, or fort spring access. they may run down to Stuarts or all the way to Alderson. Perhaps you can persuade them to do more.
My focus is getting the participant forms, instructor packets, and gear to the beginner clinic, I will want to at least do Fort Spring to the Campground, possibly on to Stuarts if my time allows. My focus and purpose is to check the river for hazards prior to the clinic. If you want to paddle on those sections I suggest you show up at the campground around noon on Friday. I may be there then or a bit later just depends on how quickly it comes together for me. It does sound like several folks do plan to paddle around noon. I know Wes and Linda are heading over and may paddle on Friday as well. I spoke to them today, we paddled on the New together. I played today, so now I've got to scramble a bit to get things ready. Dan should already be over there and ready to paddle.
Saturday, I'm doing the clinic. Sunday's club trip is posted up, Fort Spring to Alderson. My own personal focus this weekend is on the clinic so I won't be looking at anything beyond Fort Spring to Alderson this weekend. Perhaps others can be persuaded to do more or something else on Friday. I have paddled Ronceverte to the Campground, You've got pretty good water still whichis what you want (it's a bit slower than the Fort Spring to Alderson) so perhaps folks can be persuaded to do that. I haven't paddled between Alderson and Talcott but it looks from the road to slow down quite a bit. I have done all the lower Greenbrier from Talcott to Bellepoint. Good stuff there as well. The bottom section from Willowwood bridge to Bellepoint is particularly good at high water. Bacon Falls below Talcott is probably harder at lower levels.

I called the camp this morning because I couldn't remember which site was mine. Luckily I hadn't left yet. It appears that they didn't have me booked for today although I did request it. So I won't be there until tomorrow (Friday) around noon. Which they said was probably the earliest I could get in there.

Anyway, there's always a Recon paddle Friday evening. I'm sticking with Tony on that one. That will give me a little time to get setup. Also, I'll be bring a few extra sticks of firewood if anyone needs some. I think I got you covered.

Big shout out and thanks to all the people that came out to help with the clinic. As I told Tony Sunday. I learned more Friday and sat than I have my first 10 months paddling. Big thanks to the instructors for taking the time to show us how to be more efficient with our stokes. And focus on form. We had a great day sat working on skills and the group I paddles with all day was great and eager to learn. I Feel a lot more comfortable on the water now. Thanks again.
