I don't use the river prediction models. I don't feel they are very accurate. As Doug said, they were showing the New a lot higher earlier this week and it never approached that level.

I have no idea about accuracy or track record or tendencies. I just started looking at this recently. The Saturday outlook has improved with today's forecast. - Today's (Thursday 6/22) predictions for flow at Hinton are - 06/24 02:00 2.70ft 5.78kcfs 06/24 08:00 2.80ft 6.3kcfs 06/24 14:00 3.00ft 7.43kcfs 06/24 20:00 3.40ft 9.9kcfs - 06/25 02:00 3.90ft 13.2kcfs 06/25 08:00 4.30ft 16.2kcfs 06/25 14:00 4.40ft 17kcfs 06/25 20:00 4.20ft 15.4kcfs

See ya there ! If this thing doesn't work out I am guessing there will be a bunch of people with paddling gear looking for something to do.
The trick may be finding something sane ..
Fingers crossed, sometimes they get it wrong

Seeing wildly differing forecasts for Saturday, though most of the models are still showing WV getting hit very early Sat. AM.

As of right now, I plan on doing the Science Camper Trip. Based of river predictions, I think the levels will be acceptable, and the major T-storms will move out before we begin setting up on the river. My only concerns will be fallen trees on glade creek road, and possibility of our campground being flooded. I plan on camping tonight, but will take a high ground spot just in case. For those traveling long distances, even if my weather predictions are wrong and we have to cancel, there should be lots of opportunities to boat Saturday and Sunday. Again, we are still on!

I won't make a prediction on the actual weather (OK, I will... I doubt we will see nearly the rainfall predicted), but the most recent WVVA forecast shows the bulk of the heavy rain to come through in the overnight hours tonight, and clearing out entirely by early Saturday. So, my amateur meteorologist forecast is that y'all will have decent weather Saturday and Sunday, but Friday night will be a mess. Sorry I don't really have any gear to offer up this year. As some of y'all know, I sold most all of my spare boats to actually buy a brand new one and have yet to start adding used boats back to the fleet.

For those people camping Friday night, put your tents up on the Fayette station road side of the pavilion. If you are not camping Friday night have any loaner equipment dropped off at put in by 10am, and shuttle run and ready to out on by 11am.
Big thanks for everyone that has volunteered. If weather cooperates, this should be a great weekend for the science campers.
