It's that time to see some new faces in our team of officers & staff! Our club exists & runs because of its members, but especially because of all our officers & staff - who volunteer their time to make the club what it is & they have done an excellent job! It is through them that we have the opportunity to paddle with good friends & have access to information, paddling advancement clinics, & other paddling related activities. Please always remember to support & thank these people for all they do! But naturally, the club is always changing, evolving, & adapting as time goes on. We've seen some great new things recently & that's due to some awesome people stepping up & volunteering their time to give back to the club! Now we're looking for those people (and/or others) to take the next step & become an officer or staff member! We need people who are interested in contributing to the club & continuing the great work in place of some of our officers/staff who are retiring from their position at the end of this year. This is a chance for anyone, especially the younger crowd, to make a difference & improve some areas/aspects of the club with some fresh ideas! If you have an interest in giving back, please volunteer yourself here for a position in the club! Also, if you know of someone with the potential to take on a roll in this club, please nominate them here - maybe your praise & encouragement will jump-start their enthusiasm to step up! (If more than one person volunteer for one position, the club will vote on who will take that position.) Officer/Staff positions we are in need of:| POSITION | NAME | STATUS | | President | David King | David is retiring & Tom Connelly is taking his place. | | Vice President | Jo Beyer | Jo retired & Tony Daniel is now the Vice President. | | Secretary | Bridget Tincher | Retiring - VOLUNTEER! | | Treasurer/Membership Chair | Turner Sharp | Running again - Volunteer? | | Cruise Chair | Brandon Engler | Continuing | | Beginners Clinic Lead | Brandon Engler | Susan Sharp retired this year | | Intermediate Clinic Lead | Charlie Redington | Chuck Brabec retired this year | | Safety Chair | Don Beyer | Retired - VOLUNTEER! | | Science Camp Lead | Charlie Redington | Continuing | | Newsletter Editor | Linda Barthwick | Would retire if someone else was interested VOLUNTEER! | | Forum Administrator | Lauren Beyer | Lauren created the new forum, Chuck retired his Message Board | | Webmaster | Lauren Beyer | Chuck Brabec retired this year | (If the status is incorrect for any position, please PM me to let me know.) If you become a new officer/staff member, the previous officer/staff member will most likely be willing to help you transition into your new roll with questions & support to get you started. Thanks everyone!!!

I am going to have to steal a Jon Sheets quote - "crickets...crickets..."

Jeff... you should pick a position & do it! (Don't laugh!) You'd be good at it.

Maybe it would help if those who are retiring from a position, posted here a little bit about what they did for the club or what the job entails... that way someone who might be interested, knows what they'd be getting into?

If no one else wants to run against Tony for Vice President... he just may be our next Vice Pres! Say something now or at the meeting tomorrow if you're interested. (Other positions still available & needed as well!)

As secretay for the WVWA all you need to do is come to the monthly club meetings, take notes and pass them on to the rest of the officers for review/revision. The notes are then posted and included in Splashes. I was the secretay for a number of years and resumed the position when the newly elected secretary had personal happenings that forced her to resign. It's time to give back, it's an easy position to hold, VOLUNTEER!!

After the club meeting tonight, we now have a new President - Tom Connelly & a new Vice President - Tony Daniel! I just want to congratulate & thank these 2 for stepping up & volunteering! (And I hope everyone does the same.) I think they'll do a great job! And thanks to Jo Beyer & David King for doing a great job previously! Page updated: www.wvwa.net/officers.shtml
